Firewood Uttoxeter delivers kiln dried and seasoned logs right across Ashbourne and the Dales villages, ten miles up the road from our yard. DE6 sits inside our inner delivery area, despite how rural it is, so it's a regular route for us rather than an occasional trip out.

We deliver across Ashbourne and out to Mayfield, Clifton, Osmaston, Bradley, Kniveton, Fenny Bentley, Thorpe, Snelston, Shirley, Yeaveley and Marston Montgomery, as well as Brailsford, Hulland Ward and out towards Carsington Water.
Plenty of properties up this way sit down a single-track lane or have a steep or narrow entrance, and a big rigid lorry simply won't get in. We deliver on our own vehicle and tipping trailer, not an artic. Tell us what we're coming to when you order (a tight bend, a low bridge, a cattle grid, a drive that turns to mud after rain) and we'll plan the drop around it. If we can't get to the house, we'll agree a spot with you beforehand rather than tipping and leaving you with a problem.
Heating an old stone house without mains gas
A lot of houses around Ashbourne and the Dales villages aren't on the gas main, so the wood burner isn't a nice extra: it's how the place gets warm. Add solid stone walls, a bit of altitude and an exposed spot, and you'll get through considerably more wood than someone in a modern house in town.
That changes what's worth ordering. If you're burning most evenings from October through to March, a loose cubic metre of kiln dried logs is far better value than topping up with bags all winter, and it saves you chasing a delivery in a cold snap. For stone barns and old farmhouses where wood is the main heating, chunky logs for the overnight burn and one larger seasonal order work better than repeat small ones.
Our kiln dried logs are Ready to Burn certified (WS7474/00001) and under 20% moisture, which matters more when the stove is doing real work: wet wood gives you less heat per log and coats the flue in tar.
Holiday lets, pubs and standing orders
If you're running a holiday let, a pub or a shop with a stove going all day, tell us what you get through and we'll set up a standing order so you're not thinking about it.
