This explains what we do with your details when you order firewood from us or get in touch. It is written to be read, not to be waded through.

Who we are
Woodland & Forestry Ltd, trading as Firewood Uttoxeter, of 45 Hallam Road, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire ST14 7NH. We are the data controller for the information described here, which means we decide how it is used.

What we collect, and why
When you place an order
• Your name, email address and telephone number — so we can confirm the order and ring you to arrange delivery
• Your delivery address and postcode — so we can work out the delivery charge and find you
• Access notes and preferred timing — anything you tell us about the entrance, the ground or when suits you
• What you ordered and what you paid — for our records and for HMRC
• Whether the delivery is for domestic use — because domestic firewood carries VAT at 5% rather than 20%
When you contact us
If you ring, email, message us on WhatsApp or use a form on the site, we keep what you send us so we can answer you and pick up the conversation later.
When you visit the website
If you have agreed to analytics cookies, we collect anonymous information about which pages are visited and how people move around the site. That is used to improve the site, not to identify anybody. See our Cookie Policy for the detail.
We never see your card details
Payment is taken on our payment provider’s own secure page, not on our website. Your card number is never sent to us, never stored by us and never passes through our systems.
Who else sees your information
Only where it is necessary, and never for anyone else to market to you.
• Our payment provider — Stripe Payments Europe Ltd. They process your payment and hold the order record. Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy
• Our website host — who stores the site and its technical logs on our behalf
• Our email provider — order confirmations and our replies to you pass through it
• Our accountant and HMRC — sales records, because we are legally required to keep them
We do not sell your details to anybody. We do not pass them to other firewood merchants, marketing companies or data brokers. We never will.
Where your information is kept
Mostly within the UK and the European Economic Area. Some of our suppliers operate globally, and where information does leave the UK or EEA it is protected by the safeguards required under UK data protection law — usually the International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Under UK GDPR we have to have a lawful basis. Ours are:
• Performance of a contract — we cannot deliver firewood to you without your address and a way of ringing you
• Legal obligation — HMRC requires us to keep records of what we have sold
• Legitimate interests — answering your enquiry, keeping basic records of who we have dealt with, and protecting the business against fraud
• Consent — for analytics cookies, and for any marketing email you have asked to receive. You can withdraw it at any time
How long we keep it
• Order and sales records — six years, because HMRC requires it
• Enquiries that did not become orders — up to two years, then deleted
• Marketing email addresses — until you unsubscribe
• Website analytics — anonymous, and retained no longer than the analytics provider’s default
Your rights
You can ask us to:
• Tell you what we hold about you, and give you a copy
• Correct anything that is wrong
• Delete what we hold, where we are not legally required to keep it
• Stop using it for a particular purpose
• Send it to you or someone else in a portable format
• Stop sending you marketing, at any time and for any reason

If you are not happy with how we have handled it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first, but it is your right either way.
Children
This website is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information we will update this page and change the date at the top. Anything significant, and we will tell customers directly.
