These are the terms you agree to when you buy firewood or fuel from us. We have tried to write them in plain English rather than legal language.

Who you are buying from
Woodland & Forestry Ltd, trading as Firewood Uttoxeter, of 45 Hallam Road, Uttoxeter, Staffordshire ST14 7NH. Registered in England and Wales, company number 08460604, VAT number GB443552989.
When we say "we" or "us" we mean that company. When we say "you" we mean the person placing the order.
Placing an order
You can order through this website or by ringing us. Either way:
• An order is an offer to buy. A contract exists once we have confirmed it to you
• Paying does not book a delivery slot. We ring you to agree a day and a time that works around your access
• We review orders the same day. If you order before 5pm you will normally hear from us that evening
• If we cannot fulfil an order — stock, access, or anywhere we cannot reach — we will tell you straight away and refund you in full
Prices and VAT
• All prices shown include VAT
• Firewood, kindling, firelighters and smokeless fuel carry VAT at 5% as domestic fuel, provided the delivery is to a domestic address for domestic use
• Delivery and the barrow or stacking service carry VAT at 20% because they do not qualify for the reduced rate. They are itemised separately on your receipt
• If the delivery is to business premises, a different rate applies. Please tell us when you order
• We may change prices at any time, but never after you have placed an order
• If a price is obviously wrong, we will contact you before processing the order rather than simply charging you
Measures and volumes
Firewood is sold by the loose cubic metre unless stated otherwise. A loose cubic metre contains roughly 30% less wood than a stacked cubic metre, because there is air between the logs — this is the standard way firewood is sold and we say so plainly.
• Bulk bag: half a cubic metre
• Barrow bag: approximately 0.2 cubic metres
• Weights are approximate. Wood is a natural product and moisture and species both affect it
• Seasoned logs and fresh cut logs are sold from two cubic metres upward
Moisture and Ready to Burn
• Our kiln dried logs are under 20% moisture and certified Ready to Burn under certificate WS7474/00001
• Our kindling is certified Ready to Burn under certificate WS7474/00002
• Our seasoned logs are air dried to 25% moisture or less. They are not sold as Ready to Burn, because that certification requires 20% or under
• Fresh cut and part seasoned logs are above 25% and are not ready to burn. They are sold to be seasoned by you, and we say so clearly at the point of sale
We meter-check loads. If you believe a load is not as described, tell us within 48 hours and we will put it right.
Payment
• Payment is taken in full when you order, unless we have agreed otherwise with you
• Card payments are processed by Stripe on their own secure page. We never see or hold your card details
• We accept cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay online, and cash or bank transfer by arrangement
• Goods remain our property until payment has cleared in full
Delivery
Where we deliver
• Within eight miles of Uttoxeter — ST14, DE6, DE13, DE65, WS15 and ST20. Free on orders over £50, otherwise £12
• Eight to fifteen miles — free on orders over £250, otherwise £24
• Beyond fifteen miles — we do not deliver, because we would have to use couriers and we will not do that. Ring us if you are just outside and we will be honest with you
What we need from you
We deliver on our own vehicle and tipping trailer. We need room to reverse safely, ground firm enough to take a loaded trailer, and to be told about any gates, codes, low branches or awkward approaches when you order.
We cannot accept liability for damage to driveways, block paving, resin surfaces, edging, walls, lawns, drains or anything below ground. If you are unsure whether your surface will take a loaded trailer, tell us and we will talk it through. Barrowing it round is often the answer.
If access is restricted, steep, narrow or the ground is soft, delivery to your preferred spot may not be possible. We will always try to find a workable alternative.
Barrow and stack
If the wood needs moving beyond where we can tip, book Barrow & Tip or Barrow & Stack when you order. Our drivers cannot add it on the day. If it is not booked, we will tip at the nearest safe point.
Timescales
Usually two to three working days, and up to seven in a busy winter. Delivery times are estimates and are not guaranteed, though we will always tell you honestly where we are.
Cancellations, returns and refunds
These are set out in full in our Cancellations, Refunds and Delivery policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: cancel free of charge before we have loaded for you, and if something is not right when it arrives, tell us and we will sort it.
Safety and suitability
• It is your responsibility to make sure the fuel you buy is suitable for your appliance and lawful where you live
• Smoke control areas: burn only authorised smokeless fuels, or dry wood in an exempt appliance. Check with your local council if you are unsure
• Have your chimney swept regularly and your appliance serviced. We cannot be responsible for chimney fires, appliance damage or poor performance caused by how fuel is stored, used or burned
• Never burn treated, painted or varnished timber, chipboard, MDF, furniture, driftwood or household waste
Our liability
We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
We do not exclude any of your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Things outside our control
We are not liable for delays caused by events beyond our reasonable control — severe weather, flooding, vehicle breakdown, supply failure or similar. If one occurs we will contact you as soon as we can and agree a new date, or refund you if you would rather.

General
• These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction
• If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply
• We may update these terms. The version on the site when you order is the one that applies to your order
